Charlotte Hird was born in Karamea in 1962 and enjoyed a long career as a graphic artist. She lives in Welllington with designer husband Dean Cato.

This last year Charlotte has been able to work full time as an artist producing work for local galleries and group shows, NZ Academy of Fine Arts, Watercolour NZ and the Wellington Art Club. This is her first solo exhibition. Watercolour is Charlotte's favourite medium and she loves the way the water moves the paint on the paper to create magic. Charlotte finds inspiration all over the world in the beauty of nature. "I try to find time to paint everyday and love the process of making art".

In 2018 Charlotte worked as an architectural drawing teacher in a Themed Environment Design degree course in Wuhan, China. Now she teaches drawing and perspective workshops to artists to help create spatial depth in their paintings.
